Telephone Operator

Village Taxis are looking to appoint a telephonist who will be based at our main office situated in Garston. The successful candidate must be flexible for day and night shifts, have a knowledge of the local area, have experience of telephone operatives, good computer and customer service skills 

Job Purpose
  • To be the first point of contact for customers seeking to book a taxi through our telephone system

  • To record incoming jobs to our taxi booking system so that our customers transportation needs are met upon arrival 

Job Requirements
  • To offer a high level of customer service 

  • The ability to multi task in a busy working environment 

  • Top organisational skills 

Key Responsibilities 
  • To receive incoming calls from customers 

  • To answer all calls in a polite manner

  • To record customer bookings accurately including time date and pick up point

  • To ensure all airport and return bookings have all the relevant information

  • Ensure customers are given a correct estimate time as instructed by the shift supervisor

  • Memorise and use code correctly (when required)

  • Transfer the correct information to the drivers notes and to limit abbreviations (when possible)

  • Administer special requests for services including cars, number of passengers, pets, low/high vehicles etc. 

  • Follow all company rules and regulations as outlined by Village Taxis 

  • To use all company resources in a highly effective manner to ensure best operating costs

  • Time keeping skills are essential

  • Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping in the work place and communal areas
